Wadebridge Triathlon

By Richard Duane

12th October 2012

8 diehards from St Austell Triathletes ignored the dire weather warnings and turned out for the last race of the season at Wadebridge Leisure Centre and were rewarded with a dry day and fairly warm temperatures (for the time of year). The swim in the pool was 400metres followed by a cycle route out to Winnards Perch and back which was fast due to the unusually light wind. A 5Km run into town, along the Camel trail and back rounded off the event. Due to there being 209 athletes starting from 0800 through to 1200 at intervals it was not possible to see everyone's performances but highlights I saw or heard of are;

Marilyn winning her Age Group (again)

Lisa finally beating her arch-rival and coming first in her Age Group. Must be those new wheels or maybe giving her all on the run, anyway dropping to your knees after crossing the finish line right in front of Marilyn and I was funny !

Newcomer Debbie in only her second triathlon coming 5th in the very competitive 21-39 Age Group

Stuart 15th overall and swimming faster than me!
